PAKISTANI RUPEE (PKR) DEPRECIATES AGAINST US DOLLAR IN INTERBANK SESSION

The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 11.05 paisa against the US dollar in Wednesday’s interbank session, settling the trade at PKR 278.51 per USD compared to the previous session’s closing of PKR 278.4 per USD. The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.7 and a low (ask) of 278.5.

OPEN MARKET EXCHANGE RATES

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 279.03 for buying and PKR 281.00 for selling.

PKR PERFORMANCE AGAINST MAJOR CURRENCIES

  • Euro to PKR: PKR lost 11.96 paisa, closing at 301.29 compared to 301.17.
  • British Pound to PKR: Remained stable at 356.41.
  • Swiss Franc to PKR: Gained 64.13 paisa, closing at 310.47 compared to 309.83.
  • Japanese Yen to PKR: Gained 0.54 paisa, closing at 1.7247 versus 1.7301.
  • Chinese Yuan to PKR: Lost 0.53 paisa, closing at 38.28.
  • Saudi Riyal to PKR: Gained 3.74 paisa, closing at 74.26 compared to 74.22.
  • U.A.E Dirham to PKR: Increased by 2.9 paisa, closing at 75.80 compared to 75.83.
  • USD to PKR: Settled the trade at PKR 278.51 per USD compared to the previous session’s closing of PKR 278.4 per USD.

PKR’S YEARLY PERFORMANCE

During the current financial year, PKR has depreciated against the dollar by 16.93 paisa or 0.06%. The current calendar year has seen PKR appreciate by 3.35 rupees or 1.2%.

MONEY MARKET UPDATE

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2 bps to 19.83% and 20.08%.
