The Pakistani rupee (PKR) experienced a modest depreciation of 8.54 paisa against the US dollar in Monday’s interbank session, closing at PKR 278.3 per USD compared to the previous session’s closing of PKR 278.21 per USD. The currency recorded an intraday high bid of 278.5 and a low ask of 278.3.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.3 for buying and PKR 279.8 for selling.

  • Euro: PKR depreciated by 74.67 paisa, closing at 302.59 compared to 301.84.
  • British Pound: The pound increased by 1.35 rupees, closing at 353.3 compared to 351.95.

  • Japanese Yen: PKR lost 0.24 paisa, closing at 1.7871 compared to 1.7847.
  • Chinese Yuan: PKR lost 3.26 paisa, closing at 38.48 compared to 38.51.
  • Saudi Riyal: PKR gained 2.08 paisa, closing at 74.2 compared to 74.18.
  • U.A.E Dirham: The dirham increased by 2.33 paisa, closing at 75.74 compared to 75.77.

  • Financial Year: PKR has appreciated by 7.7 rupees or 2.77% against the dollar.
  • Calendar Year: PKR has appreciated by 3.57 rupees or 1.28% against the dollar.

Money Market Update:

In the money market, the benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates (KIBOR) edged down by 2 basis points, settling at 21.02% and 21.27%, respectively.
