PAKISTANI RUPEE EXCHANGE RATES: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened slightly by 7.06 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar during Thursday’s interbank session, closing at PKR 277.79 per USD compared to the previous day’s rate of 277.72. Throughout the session, the rupee touched an intraday high (bid) of 277.85 and a low (ask) of 277.75.
In the open market, exchange rates showed the dollar being quoted at 278.5 for buying and 279.75 for selling.
Against Major Currencies:
- Euro: PKR gained 72.82 paisa, closing at 303.69 from the previous rate of 304.42.
- British Pound: The rupee appreciated by 15.76 paisa, with the Pound closing at 363.23 versus 363.38 a day earlier.
- Swiss Franc: PKR depreciated by 1.09 rupees, settling at 323.07 compared to 324.16 previously.
- Japanese Yen: PKR strengthened by 0.36 paisa, closing at 1.8658 against 1.8694.
- Chinese Yuan: The rupee weakened by 5.56 paisa, closing at 39.26 from the prior rate of 39.31.
- Saudi Riyal: PKR gained 1.49 paisa, closing at 73.99 compared to 73.97.
- U.A.E Dirham: The rupee appreciated by 2.13 paisa, with the Dirham closing at 75.61 from 75.63.
Year-to-Date Performance:
During the current financial year, the PKR has appreciated by 55.04 paisa (0.2%) against the US dollar. Over the current calendar year, it has gained 4.07 rupees, marking a 1.47% increase.
Money Market Update:
The benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer Rates (KIBOR) edged up by 1 basis point, with the bid rate at 14.46% and the offer rate at 14.71%.
