The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) appreciated by 8.05 paisa (0.03%) against the US Dollar during Tuesday’s interbank session, closing at PKR 278.62 per USD. This represents a slight gain from the previous close of PKR 278.7.

INTRADAY PERFORMANCE

Throughout the day, the PKR experienced fluctuations, reaching an intraday high (bid) of PKR 278.80 and a low (ask) of PKR 278.65.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 279.46 for buying and PKR 281.03 for selling.

GAINS AGAINST MAJOR CURRENCIES

The PKR gained ground against several major currencies:

  • Euro: PKR gained 70.2 paisa, closing at PKR 307.51 compared to PKR 308.21.
  • British Pound: The rupee appreciated by 46.77 paisa, closing at PKR 364.75.
  • Swiss Franc: The rupee saw a gain of 1.14 rupees, closing at PKR 328.23.
  • Japanese Yen: PKR appreciated by 0.8 paisa, closing at PKR 1.9395.

LOSSES AGAINST SELECT CURRENCIES

While the rupee appreciated against most major currencies, it lost value against a few:

  • Chinese Yuan: The rupee weakened slightly by 5.95 paisa, closing at PKR 39.13.
  • U.A.E. Dirham: The Dirham’s value increased by 2.19 paisa, closing at PKR 75.88.

FINANCIAL YEAR AND CALENDAR YEAR PERFORMANCE

  • During the current financial year, the PKR has depreciated by 27.83 paisa (0.1%) against the US Dollar.
  • For the calendar year, the PKR has appreciated by 3.24 rupees (1.16%) against the US Dollar.

MONEY MARKET RATES

In the Money Market, the 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid (KIBOR) and Offer Rates decreased slightly by 3 basis points, settling at 17.48% and 17.73%, respectively.
