USD TO PKR: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 4.46 paisa against the US dollar in Friday’s interbank session, settling the trade at PKR 278.13 per USD compared to the previous session’s closing of PKR 278.17 per USD. The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of PKR 278.50 and a low (ask) of PKR 278.30.
OPEN MARKET RATES FOR US DOLLAR
In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 279.00 for buying and PKR 280.50 for selling.
PKR PERFORMANCE AGAINST MAJOR CURRENCIES
In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 1.22 rupees against the Euro, closing at PKR 302.82 compared to the previous value of PKR 304.04. The British Pound became cheaper by 1.88 rupees, closing at PKR 359.69 compared to PKR 361.57 from a day ago. The Swiss franc saw losses of 1.63 rupees, closing at PKR 313.06 compared to PKR 314.69 from the previous session.
PKR GAINS AGAINST JAPANESE YEN AND CHINESE YUAN
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR gained 1.33 paisa, closing at PKR 1.7673 versus PKR 1.7806 a day ago. The Chinese Yuan lost 5.46 paisa, closing at PKR 38.27 against PKR 38.33 from the previous session.
PERFORMANCE OF PKR AGAINST SAUDI RIYAL AND UAE DIRHAM
The Saudi Riyal closed at PKR 74.15 with a loss of 1.19 paisa from its value of PKR 74.16 a day ago. The U.A.E Dirham decreased in value by 1.21 paisa from PKR 75.72 a day ago to PKR 75.73.
YEARLY PERFORMANCE OF PKR
During the current financial year, PKR has appreciated against the Dollar by 21.45 paisa or 0.08%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR appreciate by 3.73 rupees or 1.34%.
MONEY MARKET UPDATE
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1 bps to 19.65% and 19.9%.
