Sales of motorcycles and three-wheelers in Pakistan witnessed a strong growth of 22.3% in September 2024, reaching 130,960 units, up from 107,084 units sold in the same month last year, according to the latest data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA). This rise in sales reflects the ongoing recovery in the country’s automotive sector.
On a month-on-month basis, sales jumped 25.64% compared to the 104,234 units sold in August 2024.
Cumulative Sales in 3MFY25
During the first quarter of FY25 (July-September), sales of motorcycles and three-wheelers clocked in at 320,187 units, representing a 19.03% increase compared to 268,990 units sold in the same period of FY24.
Production Trends
In terms of production, the total output of motorcycles and three-wheelers in September was recorded at 126,597 units, marking an 18.57% increase compared to 106,769 units produced in the same month last year. On a monthly basis, production rose by 18.14% from 107,154 units manufactured in August 2024.
Market Leaders
Honda continued to dominate the market with sales of 110,139 units in September, securing an 84.1% market share. Honda’s sales reflected a 21.72% increase compared to August 2024 and a 15.87% rise year-on-year from September 2023.
Other notable players included United Auto Motorcycle, which sold 13,302 units, and Sazgar Three Wheeler, with sales of 2,168 units. Suzuki also recorded a strong performance, selling 2,049 motorcycles, reflecting a 7.5% month-on-month growth and an impressive 86.95% year-on-year increase.
Honda’s Strong Performance in 3MFY25
In the first quarter of FY25, Honda’s total sales amounted to 270,877 units, significantly higher than the 232,139 units sold during the same period last year, reinforcing the brand’s leading position in Pakistan’s motorcycle market.
The robust growth in motorcycle and three-wheeler sales highlights increasing consumer demand and improving economic conditions in the country’s auto sector.
