PAKISTANI RUPEE PKR EXCHANGE RATES: The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) appreciated by 22.44 paisa or 0.08% against the US dollar during Friday’s interbank trading session, closing at PKR 277.52 per USD compared to the previous rate of PKR 277.74. The currency fluctuated throughout the day, with an intraday high of 277.90 and a low of 277.70.

In the open market, the dollar was quoted at PKR 278.5 for buying and PKR 280 for selling. On a weekly basis, the rupee gained 12 paisa against the US dollar.

PKR PERFORMANCE AGAINST MAJOR CURRENCIES

  • Euro: PKR gained 81.67 paisa, closing at PKR 305.95.
  • British Pound: The Pound became 95.44 paisa more expensive, closing at PKR 365.39.
  • Swiss Franc: The rupee gained 79.92 paisa, closing at PKR 325.55.
  • Japanese Yen: PKR weakened slightly, losing 0.48 paisa to close at PKR 1.895.
  • Chinese Yuan: The rupee lost 3.2 paisa, ending the day at PKR 39.54.
  • Saudi Riyal: The rupee fell by 12.28 paisa, closing at PKR 73.88.
  • U.A.E Dirham: PKR lost 6.11 paisa, settling at PKR 75.62.

Money Market Update

The benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer Rates (KIBOR) declined by 6 basis points to 14.45% and 14.7%, respectively. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) also conducted a reverse repo and Shariah-compliant Modarabah-based Open Market Operation (OMO), injecting Rs1.01 trillion into the market.
