PAKISTANI RUPEE EXCHANGE RATES: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 10.49 paisa, or 0.04%, against the US dollar during Thursday’s interbank session, closing at PKR 277.74 per USD compared to the previous close of PKR 277.64. Throughout the session, the currency hit an intraday high (bid) of 277.85 and a low (ask) of 277.75.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278.5 for buying and 280 for selling.

Performance Against Major Currencies:

  • Euro: The PKR gained 55.05 paisa, closing at 306.77 compared to the previous value of 307.32.
  • British Pound: The currency became cheaper by 4.53 rupees, closing at 364.44, down from 368.97.
  • Swiss Franc: PKR saw a loss of 2 rupees, settling at 326.35 compared to 328.35 in the last session.
  • Japanese Yen: PKR gained 3.75 paisa, closing at 1.8902 from the previous rate of 1.9277.
  • Chinese Yuan: The rupee gained 1.5 paisa, closing at 39.57 compared to 39.56.
  • Saudi Riyal: PKR appreciated by 2.5 paisa, closing at 74 against 73.97.
  • U.A.E. Dirham: The rupee gained 2.65 paisa, closing at 75.59, compared to 75.62 a day ago.

Year-to-Date Performance:

  • During the current financial year, the PKR has appreciated by 59.89 paisa or 0.22% against the US dollar.
  • In the current calendar year, the PKR has strengthened by 4.12 rupees or 1.48%.

Money Market Update: In the money market, the benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates saw a decline of 26 basis points, with rates at 14.51% and 14.76%, respectively.
