The federal government has announced a reduction in fuel prices for the upcoming fortnight, cutting the petrol price by Rs2.07 and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs3.40 per litre.

According to a statement from the state broadcaster PTV, the new prices are as follows:

  • Petrol: Rs247.03 per litre
  • High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Rs246.29 per litre
  • Kerosene Oil: Reduced by Rs3.57 to Rs154.90 per litre
  • Light Diesel Oil: Reduced by Rs1.03 to Rs140.90 per litre

This announcement follows a previous cut on September 15, where the government lowered the petrol price by Rs10 per litre and HSD by Rs13.06 per litre.

Currently, the government imposes approximately Rs76 per litre in taxes on both petrol and HSD. While the general sales tax is set to zero on all petroleum products, a Rs60 per litre petroleum development levy is applied, which significantly affects consumers.
